Effortlessly Edgy Teal Summer Hair

You guys know I LOVE pop of color! This teal bob is definitely a slam dunk for the summer! I love how chic it looks and the messiness of the curls are perfect!

Add this unit to your summer concert outfit inspo πŸ‘Œ

Check out my review below! You can snag this unit for $38 here

Long, Kinky, Rapunzel Hair for Under $25

I snagged this unit from Sam's Beauty and I am in LOVE with the length, density, and texture! This unit bears a likeness to 4a kinky hair blown out and is serving up ALL KINDS of Nubian queen! I love it!

I posted a short clip of the plucking process on my YouTube Channel and Facebook, you can check it out here:

Unlike most of my units, this wig is NOT a lace front but it does have lace parting. The unit came without lace (which kind of bugged me) and the parting space was definitely not clearly defined so expect a lot of work plucking with this one. However, it was well worth it!

This unit is not heat safe (with tools such as curling irons or flat irons) but can be set with hot water and perm rods. I'll be showing you how I complete a hot water set on this unit in an upcoming video as well as an update .

You can get this wig HERE

$12 Carnitas Street Tacos for Broke College Students (Coronas not included)

Eat all week (or for 3 days if you're greedy like me) for under $15 πŸ˜‹

If you're always on the go and also pretty lazy when it comes to cooking, this recipe is for you. Literally, set it and forget it. Don't you just love crock pots? Since being a college student is pretty much synonymous with being broke as hell, I've had to get pretty creative with my recipes so that I have enough gas to make it to class. Check out how I whipped up some pretty tasty carnitas below:

So Thursday night I was missing good ole Cali-forn-i-a (as I often do) and I decided to to attempt the ever so delicious carnitas street taco. Pork butt was on sale for $7 and I already had all of the spices I needed at home so I just snagged some onions, cilantro, and tortillas.

It's been a while since I've had some authentic Mexican food (thanks a lot, Georgia) but I figured I'd give it a go and if it turned out alright I'd blog about it and tell you how I made it.

Disclaimer: I'm not a super fancy food blogger so we're gonna use estimates here and you can tweak as you see fit.

What You'll Need

A crock pot
Pork Butt (or shoulder)
Cheap tortillas
Green Onion
Red Onion
4 Limes
Fresh Garlic

Random seasonings from your spice rack (cumin, chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, salt, pepper, onion powder, and cayenne pepper)

Coronas. Yes, they're mandatory for sips in between all the heavy chopping we're going to be doing.

Let's do this.

Keep in mind that this recipe isn't 1000% authentic bc I ended up using low carb tortillas (they were on sale and buy one get one free) instead of the traditional corn tortilla. Use whatever is economically sound (aka cheapest). Don't worry, it won't compromise taste.

Take a sip from your corona. Slice up a lime into wedges. Stick a wedge into the corona. Take  another sip.

Take the pork butt out of the packaging and rinse thoroughly. Pat it dry with paper towels. Set aside.

Make the dry rub. Grab a container (I used dollar tree tupperware) and pour your seasonings in. Stir the spices in together. Take a sip from the corona.

I don't use measuring cups but here's a rough estimate of my proportions.
        •  1/3 cup of cumin
        •  2 tbsp salt
        •  2 tbsp pepper
        • 1/2 cup garlic powder
        • 1/2 cup onion powder
        • 1 tbsp paprika
        • 1/4 cup chili powder
        • couple of dashes of cayenne pepper (optional)
Rub the seasonings on the butt. No, not your butt. The pork butt. Make sure it's well saturated. Then set it in the crock pot on HIGH for 5hrs or LOW for 8hrs.

Dice the red and green onions and also the garlic. Shred or chop the cilantro-whatever you're into.     Throw the garlic into the crock pot. Slice a lime in half and squeeze the juice from both halves into     the crockpot over the pork butt. Now you can go take a nap or go to class or binge watch Shameless on Netflix for a few hours.

When the timer goes off check the pork butt, it should be pretty much falling me during     finals. Use two forks to shred the pork. If you want, you can warm the tortillas by nuking them in       the microwave for about 10 seconds or on the stovetop. Top with pork, onions, and cilantro and you're good to go!

If you tried it, let me know if you liked it. :)

NOTE: You may notice that we only used 1 lime in the recipe. The other limes are for coronas. You're welcome.

Till next time, Budget Babes.

Body Positivity, Weight Loss, + Impromptu Photo Sesh

πŸ’•Heyyy Budget Babes πŸ’•

SO yesterday I got out of my creative slump and decided to go out and enjoy the day in celebration of  the first day of Spring Break! I was lucky enough to rent a cannon from my university's library for the week so I'm super excited to FINALLY be able to vlog on the go instead of just around the house. Lit! Here's my favorite shot from yesterday:

A friendly bystander actually took this shot for me. I LOVE it. I usually shy away from posting full body pics on social media because people can be so critical of others and it can really take a toll on your self image. Buuutttt....this romper had me feeling like a hippie peacock so it deserved some camera time πŸ˜‚

Shout out to Laysha for participating in my novice blogger antics: She's a baddie. You can follow her on IG for more fierceness HERE

A little about my weight loss "journey":
I've basically been on some sort of diet for as far back as I can remember. On the last day of school in 5th grade our teachers planned a park field-trip and I remember being so excited for free dress I spent a whole weekend shopping with my mom for the perfect outfit. I rocked a pair of dark denim shorts and a pink beaded tank. Ya girl was feelin' herself, mmkay? I also remember spending the majority of that day crying in the park bathrooms after being called a "ghetto hoochie" by a group of girls and having boys joke about how big my thighs were.  I remember feeling self-conscious about my body in a one piece at 10, after an older boy made a comment about my belly fat. In high school I failed gym because I refused to don a swimsuit and stopped going (the last half of the school year was swimming lessons).

I've drank exorbitant amounts of green tea

I've starved myself

I've tried the 3-day diet

I've tried Atkins

I tried yoga, workout DVDs, running, slim fast, nutrisystem, the lemonade diet, the grapefruit diet, the Mediterranean diet, intermittent fasting, hydroxycut, and a million other diet pills...

All before the age of 21.

Even at my lowest weight, I have always been an extreme pear shape (size 28 waist and size 46 hips) which to some may not seem like a problem but for eliminates the possibility for me to wear things like shorts, miniskirts, or even dresses that are more than 2 3/4 inches from the knee (yes, I've measured) without looking provocative or worrying about being perceived as "skanky".

With that being said, wearing a romper that pretty much put my biggest insecurity on display was ballsy for me. Terrifying, even. But also....liberating.

I think often times we spend too much time worrying about what people will say or think about our bodies when in actuality, I've never looked at another individual and obsessed over or spent time critiquing their body. Have you? Probably not. So today, I had a revelation. I said to myself, "Self," and my self said "huh?"

Wear the damn shorts and the camel toe inducing romper πŸ˜‚ Who cares? Not me. Not anymore.

Side note: This post is BODY POSITIVE. Meaning, the celebration of ALL bodies. So for your viewing pleasure, here are some bomb ass photos I took of Laysha (she's skinny but she'll kill me if I don't say she's slim "thick" lolol)

Go girl! Witcho fine ass! <3

Till next time, guys!

Snag Free Beauty Products! + Ole Henriksen Skincare Haul

Hey guys! I'm back with another haul for you but this time it's a skincare haul! I tend to be a pretty oily gal, so I was super excited when I got an email from Influenster letting me know that my first voxbox would be from Ole Henriksen's new "Balance" line!

This line is intended to put the brakes on oily skin while ensuring optimal hydration and keeping your skin glowing all day (in a good way!). The box I received came with three products from this line:

1. Find Your Balance-Oil Control Cleanser: This is more of a creamy cleanser than a foaming cleanser which I actually appreciated! I find that foaming cleansers require more product in the long run and at $25 a bottle, it's best to be very conservative and get more bang for your buck. The first thing I noticed when I opened the bottle was the smell: an invigorating peppermint that feels just as good as it smells! The cleanser left my skin feeling taught and fresh and surprising smooth.

2. Balancing Force-Oil Control Toner: I love love LOVE this toner!! I've tried a bunch of different drugstore brands of toner but none have ever made my pores disappear like this one. There is a slight burn (most likely due to my just getting my eyebrows done-don't make that mistake!) but again, the peppermint comes in clutch with the cooling component that calms my skin and reduces the red blotchiness I tend to get. It did come in a full sized bottle and a little goes a long way with this product so I was stoked!

3. Counter Balance- Oil Control Hydrator: Now, on to the moisturizer. I was initially put off by the greasiness of this product upon application- "what the heck, isn't this supposed to be oil control?" but the product dried up relatively quickly and left my skin looking smooth and supple. Another plus, my makeup appeared to go on smoother when I applied it, almost as if the moisturizer acted as a primer. So, all in all- a pretty good product as well if you can get over the initial discomfort of the greasiness.

Check out my review below:

Now, a little bit of info about Influenster:

Influenster is this awesome app where you can snag free stuff in exchange for your honest review of the products. The products come delivered to you house in its own special "VoxBox" and can include a variety of things. You could score a skincare box (like moi), cosmetics, hair products, gaming accessories, and even food! All you have to do is head over to their site: and sign up! The site will prompt you to answer a few questions about yourself and your interests (what they call "Snaps") and you're all set! Influenster will notify you if there is a voxbox that matches your interests and you'll get an email once it's sent out with instructions on how to submit your feedback and reviews. Easy, right?

Also, you'll want to download the influenster app so that you can earn badges from social media without having to log on using your desktop or laptop at home.

If you're interested in buying any of the Ole Henriksen items from the Balance line, you can check them out here

They're a little more pricey than the usual stuff I review, but I found them in a smaller set on sephora for just $35 which is a steal since the individual full sized products cost between $25-$40 each.

Check out the set here: Ole Henriksen's Balance It All Essentials Kit

All in all, this collection gets a 8 out of 10 from me! I'm digging it!

Hey dolls! There's a new video up on my channel! This one is a collaboration with 599 Fashion who graciously sent me 5 super dope items to review for you all!

There were so many cute items to choose from it was hard to choose, BUT I ended up going with  taupe-ish midi bodycon dress

a pink crop top and pencil skirt set

This really comfy tunic type top

And a couple of super cute hoodies

Okay so, funny story. I didn't realize when I picked out the purple hoodie that there were these huge slits on the side lol But they're actually only noticeable when I raise my arms (see above pic) and I actually kind of love that little detail.

I've been seeing a lot of Youtubers review items from this site and I must say, I was initially really apprehensive because I know there are a few sites with comparable prices but their sizing is completely off (talking to you, RoseGal). HOWEVER, 599Fashion really came in clutch with the sizing and stretchy material. That being said, when you purchase from this site, be sure to order your size. No need to go up or down because the items are a true to size. The fit is great and all of the items on their site are $10 or less!

Use my discount code: CM376 for 20% off your purchase at 599 Fashion but hurry! Items sell out fast on this site so the items pictured may not be available anymore, but new items are added every day!!!

Don't say I never gave you anything ;)

HOTEL HORROR STORY | fun and flirty two-toned hair | PATRICK DOES MY VOICEOVER!!

Hey lovelies! This past week I finally got out of my creator's funk and decided to record a review for the unit I wore on Patrick's birthday which was a few weeks ago. We ended up going to Atlanta and hanging out with my cousin at this hookah lounge and having a really great time. However, the weekend got off to quite the rocky start...

We planned to leave home around 12 to get to the hotel by check-in (3 pm) so that we could settle in and change into our "going out" attire. We didn't end up leaving until around 2 because we woke up late and just ended up being so off schedule. When we arrived at the hotel it was definitely not what I expected. I chose this location because of its proximity to the Dave & Busters (less than a block away!) and even though there were a few bad reviews online, I figured we wouldn't spend much time there anyway so what's the worst that can happen? It can't be that bad, right? WRONG. SO WRONG.

When we finally got our keys from the less than enthusiastic young man at the front desk, we headed upstairs eager to drop off our bags and get the evening started. When we opened the door to our "suite" I nearly vomited from the smell alone. This was literally the most derelict hotel room I had ever seen in my life. It was something out of a horror movie, ok? The walls were dingy and its once-white layer of paint transitioned into an eggshell, canary yellow, then finally a charcoal color in a sort of filth ombre. There were no fresh towels in the bathroom, the microwave in the room was from like, 1954 and had a literal dial on it (also canary yellow to match the walls I suppose). The flat screen that was advertised online was nowhere in sight as we had a huge old black box sitting in a dusty entertainment center. On the bright side, we did have basic cable...although the picture was fuzzy and tinted green for some odd reason. The best part? Blood. On. The. Curtains. Hell to the no, ok?

*I don't have a picture of the blood on the curtains or the wall in question because I recorded the incident on snapchat and didn't save it*

Patrick reassured me we would hardly be in the hotel room and it was just for one night and although I winced at the thought of putting any of my belongings anywhere in the cesspool, I obliged because it was HIS birthday. Also, we wouldn't be able to get a refund and all of the nearby hotels were $115+ a night and it wasn't in our budget to lose out on the money we paid for this one and shell out another hundred or so. I took 4 showers when we got home and washed all of our clothes in hot water.

We did end up having a ton of fun later on in the evening and Pat and Laysha (who's birthday is the day before Pat's) got a fun surprise from the lovely ladies at the BunnAmour Lounge

   Ain't he cute? πŸ’•

Okay, now about my hair. This was the only stroke of luck I got from that weekend. Due to the fact that we were running sooo far behind schedule for our departure (and I was still waiting on the wig I ordered from Friday Night Hair) my hair looked a wreck. I mean Queen Latifah in "Set it Off" wreck, ok? Something HAD to be done. We made a quick detour to the local beauty supply and I snagged the first thing I saw figuring I could make it work later. Well, it turns out I snatched up the Model Model Passion Meadow wig, which is a YouTuber favorite and has been sold out on almost all of the online wig sites for months. Score!!

I'm obsessed with these highlights!!! Check out my review of this unit below:

I also did a makeup tutorial on this look and Patrick was ever so kind enough to do my voiceover! I've been seeing this "boyfriend does my voiceover" challenge all over the place lately and I was DYING to partake because they're so hilarious. Pat did not disappoint and I cackled during the whole editing process. I finally uploaded the video last night so you can check it out here:

Probably should have changed my shirt. Whatevs.

The video was sped up to cut down on time but it can be a little difficult to see what products I used so here is a list of what I used (in order of appearance...I think) and the link for where to buy them- see how much I love you?

That's all, folks! If you're not already subscribed to my YouTube channel, head over and click that subscribe button and the bell so you get notified when I post a new video! You can also follow me on Instagram and snapchat by clicking the links over to the left.

My next video will be a "look for less" segment on my channel and I'm super excited to share it with you guys because it's my first collaboration with an online company and I'm hooking ya'll up with a discount code so you can purchase some items for 20% off!

Also, I have some more wigs coming that I'm excited to share with you guys and a few makeup tutorial ideas scattered about. Until then, stay fabulous!

New Glasses + Pink Stardust Make-up Tutorial

Beauty Deals on Amazon

Hey lovelies! So my week started off INSANE due to the fact that I've been bombarded by exams at school and basically just having to adult really hard from the jump. Finally got around to filing taxes, power cleaning the house, and picking up some new glasses from the local optometrist.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm a fan of huge eccentric frames but this time I opted for a more low-key look. I love them! I've been noticing a lot of bloggers with this partially rimmed glasses and have been super obsessed with them so I decided to hop on the band wagon and see what the fuss was about.

These frames are effortlessly cool and guaranteed to make take any selfie to "instagram baddie" status. LOVE!

I also finally got around to editing this pink smokey eye tutorial that I filmed last week and I'm pretty happy with the result. For this look I used the Juvia's Place palette that I've been raving about and a couple of new products that picked up from Ulta.

These new products were waayyy out of my normal price range so I was literally cringing at the thought of swiping my card for these BUT there are quite a few youtubers that rave about them so I figured it was worth a go. I crossed my fingers that these products would live up to the hype because I was definitely going to be eating ramen noodles for the next couple of days to offset their price tag.

First up, the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in the color "Opal"

1. This highlighter is 38 friggin dollars.

2. Do you know how many cases of ramen that could buy?

3. TOTALLY lived up to the hype.

This highlighter is everything. Literally. Go look up "everything" in the dictionary. You'll see an image of this highlighter. I'll wait.

But seriously, the payoff is BOMB! It took my cheekbones from *passing nod* to WHAM! "I have arrived" Check it out:

It's lit. If you're willing to cough up the coin, you can buy the BECCA highlighter HERE

The second product I splurged on was the Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Hydrating Foundation in the shade "3.35- Golden Medium Beige"

First off, I know I'm usually very very loyal to Black Opal's foundation (It's my go-to foundation) but I heard great things about this Smashbox "dupe" for MAC's studio fix. I put dupe in quotation marks for a reason. Imagine the air quotes, ok?

This foundation was $42.

How, sway? How is the "dupe" more expensive than the foundation that it's being compared to? I'll wait.

MAC's Studio Fix foundation retails for about $30. I've used their foundation before but found it to be a little too rich for my blood once I started college so I opted for a cheaper drugstore brand until my after grad glow up (coming soon). By comparison, the Smashbox foundation was almost exactly what I remember studio fix feeling and looking like. A little sticky on the application, water resistant, full coverage, and pretty true to my undertone (a little cakey looking). It did however dry like-instantly. I mean, like fast dry nail polish.

So...with regard to this product- It's take it or leave it. Which is a bummer bc I was expecting a little more bang for my buck. If you'd like to check it out for your self, you can purchase it HERE.

Look at that highlight!! (Thanks BECCA, girl!) Check out how I got the eye look pictured above and don't forget to head over to my channel to like and subscribe so you don't miss out on new posts!

Love ya, mean it!

The BEST Lace front EVER!!!

New video up on my channel you guys! When I say this is by far the BEST synthetic lace front wig I have EVER had in my life...I mean it!

It is absolutely gorgeous! The hairline is so unbelievably natural without adding concealer or doing any tweezing. I purchased this unit from Friday Night Hair and it is the model number GLS29 and I have it in the color 1B with brown lace. This unit is priced at $49.99 on their site and it is sooo worth it!!

Check out my review on this unit above and if you haven't already, head over to my channel and subscribe (click the little bell) so you get post notifications every time I upload a video!

Sunset Eye Tutorial Ft. Juvia's Place Masquerade Palette

This palette is EVERYTHING!!

So after watching numerous youtubers gush about how amazing Juvia's Place palettes are, I finally jumped on the bandwagon and decided to try it out for myself. (I know, I look crazy lol)

For $25 the "Masquerade" palette is a steal-especially considering the quality. These shadows are highly pigmented with a YUGE color payoff and extremely long lasting.

Since I'm still pretty much a novice in the eyeshadow department, I decided to experiment a tad. Originally I had planned to go with a more subtle "pink champagne" look on my lids but it ended up turning into this gorgeous sunset-esque look.

Eyes: The Masquerade Palette by Juvia's Place
Lips: Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip-Limbo
Wig: Freetress Equal "Kitron" in OP430

If you want to see how I achieved this look check out my tutorial below and don't forget to like and subscribe to my channel so you don't miss future vids!

$17 Hair! **FABULOUS U-Part Natural Hair Unit**

Hey ya'll! I fell in love with this unit as soon as I took it out of the package! This is my first review on a wig that isn't a lacefront unit and I'm LOVING the versatility! The Janet Collection offers this unit in a variety of natural hair types but the one I'm rocking is 3A to match the texture of my leave out.

My FIRST Get to Know Me Tag!! *New Vid Alert*

Hey guys! I'm baaack! So I finally did the Get to Know Me Tag! Check it out below!

I had such a blast filming and editing this video! I know this is a little bit different from videos I've uploaded in the past, but I thought I would keep it a little upbeat and try to keep from dry and stuffy ❤

I'm learning how to tweak editing and hopefully I'll be able to purchase some better software so my vids can be a little more YouTube pro, and a little less YouTube novice lol!

New Videos on my Channel + Christmas & New Year's Eve

Hey guys! I know I've totally neglected you for a couple of weeks but I promise I'm going to be a lot more consistent updating my blog to reflect my channel. I had a super hectic (but blessed) holiday season this year and I wanted to share a little with you all!

Christmas: This was the first Christmas for Pat and I that wasn't spent with either one of our families so it was kind of special because it was just us at home. We got a tree from Wal-Mart (like $29 I believe) and decorated stockings (OMG, I never realized how arduous crafting is and I totally respect anyone who can make something beautiful out of glitter pens and a freakin' stocking because mine looked like trash). I wish I had thought to take pictures before I took everything down so that I could share it here buuuttt....I totally spaced. I got: a new keurig, a wine aerator, some dope wine glasses from my cousin, this freakin' amazing box of goodies from my best friend Rox, some pokemon socks (score!), and 2 new Buffy comics/volumes really side note: I am a total Whedonverse groupie and have been since I was probably 9 or 10? I just started Season 8 of Buffy (I know, I'm so late) and I'm reading volume 3 right now. I've always been sort of a speed reader and I finished the first 2 volumes in a day so I'm trying to break 3 up into "episodes" because I can't spend $30 a day on new books on my undergrad budget.

In other news!! I uploaded my "favorite mattes of 2016" video on my YouTube Channel and I'm super excited about how it turned out! You can check it out below:

Most of these lippies are from Colourpop with the exception of the LAColor "Mistress" and MAC "Matte Royal". I usually don't purchase MAC lipsticks because they're so doggone expensive but luckily I got this fabulous royal blue one from my future mother-in-law (who is amazing)

I look like an alien, I know. Hush.

New Years: So being the smooth-talking gangsta that I am, I convinced my good friends to let me film our New Year's Eve celebration and they were really really good sports about it. Especially considering the fact that I sort of plied them with liquor and edited at will *evil laugh* They didn't see the final result until it was live on my channel and firmly cemented on the internet forever (bwahahaha). I think it turned out really great and I had so much fun putting it together. Check out how we rung in the New Year below:

I hope you guys liked the new vids! Head over to my channel here: ChampagneTaste for more reviews, college/couple VLOGS, and makeup tutorials! <3
